Pinterest.

Pinterest. Pinterest. Pinterest. My addiction that, just like my children, I don't know how life was like before I started 'pinning'. Six out of seven days a week I either make something from a board I have pinned or make something that I have pinned. It's a serious condition. In fact, as of right now, I have my whole Easter Sunday dinner directly planned straight from Pinterest. Sad I know. However, due to my pinterest-ism, it has brought out this whole new crafty side of me, which even though I have always kind of made fun of crafty people, I am actually welcoming it with open arms. I am so excited to get moved into our new home, because I am going to set me up a craft corner in my bedroom (OMG I cannot believe 'craft corner' just came out of my mouth).

Saturday I tried my first Sangria recipe. Honestly, I do not know why I made it because I HATE wine and wine accessories. I was so excited to make it though; I wrote down my ingredients (from off of one of my Pinterest boards), however, once I got to United, I realized that I would have to buy real fresh fruit for this. Me. Pick out fresh fruit. Hmm. Puzzling. I am a girl that does not eat fruit unless it is in a pie, cobbler, or chocolate covered. I found a very helpful produce man and he helped me out tremendously. Everyone knows how expensive fruit is; $21000 later, I was ready to make Sangria. The funny thing about this is that the fruit cost a whole lot more than the $4 bottle of wine (all of which will get poured out tomorrow). I threw everything together, let it set for a couple of hours and tasted it; it was ho-hum. Not good. Okay, it was yucky. I can't get over the 'wine' aspect of it. I'm not a classy wine drinker, I like margaritas and daquiris in foam cups.

Grocery shopping with 3 kids under 5 is extremely exhausting. I guess all the excitement of buying all the expensive fruit to pair with my cheap wine had me distracted at the check-out and I did not realize until all the kids were in their seats, buckled up, that I had forgot my cell phone in the store. Shit. I was already wore out from the whole day, the shopping experience, and the fact that it was like 95 outside, I could have said, 'screw it, cell phones are overrated'. Buuuut I didn't; I unbuckled kids, carried the heavy infant seat in, and thankfully the lady instantly took my phone up to customer service, so no one stole it, but the whole ordeal took like 5 minutes.

This blog is going to run pretty short -- mostly because I have to pee and once I get up, I don't plan on sitting back down just to type. I am thinking about allowing my blog to be open to the public.

  1. Congrats on the blog! I tried and failed. As for the sangria, did you use oj, simple syrup, and some sort of flavored brandy? That's how we make it, but I'm also a wino lol

  2. I used one bottle white wine and 4 cans fresca, then I added tangelos, lemons, limes, blackberries, raspberries, watermelon.
    How do you make yours?

  3. Red wine, 1 cup oj, 1/2 c simple syrup, a few shots of peach brandy, and sliced oranges, limes, and apples. I like how the apples soak up the wine & I can munch on them later.

  4. Sounds good! Maybe I am not buying the right kind of wine, maybe that's why I've never liked it.

I'm going to be asking all of my friends with two little ones this same question b/c I'm thinking no shopping trips for me until Haven gets into Pre-K lol.

  6. Depending on how many Groceries we have to get, sometimes i have cash follow me pushing one of the mini buggies for all the groceries. I was scared to death to go somewhere at first but now it's no big deal.. We go to Amarillo and everything.

  7. lol Candace, I wonder the same thing! Two is hard enough for me at the store, but Lily isn't old enough to walk with a basket without wandering off. From the time Noah was little, I put him in a sling and her in the cart. Some stores have bigger carts (walmart, sams, and target) but we shop United more than anything.

  8. I love the carts at sams. I wished all stores could have those carts.

  9. Oh, that's a good idea!! I must get a sling! Granted, I'm probably going to be worn out by the time I get back in the car haha, but it's a very logical idea that never crossed my mind. Thanks!

  10. I'm a sling addict. The pouch was my first and favorite for itty bitties. The Bjorn is the only one Nathan will carry and bigger babies like it, but it isn't comfortable to me after the kid hits 15 lbs. The moby is really cool for swaddling tired or colicky babies, but I felt like Noah outgrew it way too fast and didn't like it after 4 months because it wasn't good for outward facing. Now, I keep the pouch sling in the car so I can easily throw him on my hip and my newest love is the Mei Tai style because I can tie him on my back and actually get stuff done. Yesterday I cleaned the kitchen and weeded the flower beds with him happily snuggled on my back. He couldn't reach things so it was much easier, unlike front wearing. Kara, yes! Why can't they have those carts everywhere?!
